I do a lot of talking to groups of business people. Here is some from the mid-2000s, when I was much better at keeping track:
After going quiet for a little while, I talked about TMI at eComm— my favorite business conference. It managed to get me an invite to the OECD, which was a fascinating conference I summarized on my company’s blog. This has to do with the stupidity with which we cling to terms like mature and emerging markets, even when we all know why this doesn’t reflect reality. My company let me have this rant at their big ‘do. Happily the mature/emerging rant was picked up by Wired.
I also had the opportunity to give a keynote at OSCON, based purely on my merits as gender politics shit-stirrer. I didn’t stir this particular shit in my talk–tried to branch out a little. They caught me on TV, too–though not the most entertaining performance.
